Press release

Those visiting the Leicester Royal Infirmary on 18 March between 10-4pm will get an opportunity to find out more about the various medical, nursing and practioner roles available, as well as the chance to speak to key staff members who will be on hand to provide all the information needed.

The multi-million pound development, which is expected to combine the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre and Admissions Units, is expected to officially open on 26 April this year and will be the first frailty friendly emergency floor in Europe. The new and improved department will include special features such as a designated dementia room, rooms with en-suites and state-of-the-art resuscitation facilities.

March’s open day is just one of many recruitment events Leicester’s Hospitals has hosted over the past year which have proved a huge success for those seeking a career in the new Emergency Department. Over 100 people attended the last open day, and some of those attendees are now starting work within the Emergency Department team.

Rachel Williams, Deputy Head of Operations and Emergency Care at Leicester’s Hospitals, said: “Our award winning team has been recognised for its support to new staff, particularly in areas such as workforce, training and development and we are known nationally for our international recruitment programme.

“Joining the team at this time will enable new staff to help us shape the new department and work together as a team in improving the processes in delivering high quality patient care in a state of the art setting, so we’re calling on those looking for a career in our new emergency department to attend the open day and see how they can be a part of our great team!"

Andy Coser, Matron in the Emergency Department, added: “Our key selling points include that we have a fantastic new place of work that we are all really excited about and that we are a great, fun, diverse team to work with. Even though we work in a really fast-paced environment and we do have challenges to face each day we all pull together as one team.”
