The reconfiguration projects focus on the reconfiguration of Leicester’s Hospitals’ and how it will provide clinical services, both operationally and in physical locations, in the future.

The business cases are a series of major capital changes and service reconfigurations across our three hospital sites. The service changes include developing and implementing changes to our estate, workforce and future operating models, and include plans to build a women’s hospital at the Leicester Royal; create an integrated Children’s Hospital; and creation of a planned care ‘hub’.
Our reconfiguration plans include the creation of a comprehensive cardiovascular service at Glenfield Hospital. Construction work has already begun on this project, and will see a new Vascular ward, angiography suite and hybrid operating theatre on site for the vascular service, currently at the Royal Infirmary, to move into.
