Medical Students

What do Leicester's Hospitals offer
A maximum of 5 days work observation specifically tailored to aspiring medical students. This is an annual course, advertised in January. Places are limited to a maximum of 104.

Who is it aimed at?
Principally 6th Formers with some post A2 undergraduate/post graduates. Catchment area strictly limited to Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

A leaflet will be circulated to all schools / colleges with a sixth form in catchments area

Aged greater than 16, a minimum of 8 A*/A at GCSE and a reference from school / college

Occupational Therapy

What do UHL offer?
1 day shadowing opportunities to ask questions about occupational therapy as a course and career.

Who is it aimed at?
People that are 17yrs and over, and who have an interest in embarking upon Occupational Therapy as a chosen career path or who have already applied for Occupational Therapy at degree level. Or seeking a job within Occupational Therapy or assistant level.

All queries are sent to Priya Patel (Occupational Therapist) and after conducting a short telephone screening, an application form is sent out to the applicant to complete and return

A-levels/ A/s Levels, previous degrees and other qualification related to Health and Social Care.

Radiology

What do UHL offer?
2 days maximum observation of the different imaging modalities provided within UHL

Students wanting to apply for radiography degree courses

Medical Physics

What do UHL offer?
Observation of the different Medical Physics services provided within UHL and where applicable we also arrange short term (1 – 2 week) project based assignments

Students with a long term interest in a career within Physics / Healthcare

Physiotherapy

What do UHL offer?
A full 1day to experience a variety of workplace settings with some of the specialist physiotherapy teams. 2 students each time. Every Wednesday.

Who is it aimed at?
6th formers who have a particular interest in pursuing a physiotherapy career.

Enquiries to the physiotherapy departments.

The assumption is that they would be studying the kind of subjects required for entry onto a physiotherapy degree course.
