World War Memorials

WW Memorial
World War Memorials Remembrance

On Friday 9 November 2018 we held a short act of remembrance in the entrance to the Victoria Building, at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, to remember some of our staff who died in service during the World Wars.We unveiled two plaques which once hung in St Luke’s Chapel at the Infirmary. The plaques record nurses who died in the First World War and clerical staff from the Second World War.

Children from a South Kilworth Primary School read out a poem they had written about the War and laid poppies, made by members of staff, as a memorial.

Download a file of the children's poems at the bottom of this page.

All our funding comes from charitable donations and external grants. If you would like to support bringing our collections of art and heritage items back to life for our patients, staff and local communities with a donation please follow this link to Leicester Hospitals Charity.
