Breast Care Nurses

Our team of specialist Breast Care Nurses are based in the Breast Care Centre at Glenfield. They are drawn from a wide variety of nursing backgrounds, with expertise learned on the wards, in operating theatres and oncology. This experience means they can support you from diagnosis of breast cancer, through surgery and adjuvant treatments and in the follow-up period. The Breast Care Nurses work alongside the Advanced Nurse Practitioners but have different roles in Breast Care.

Most of our patients meet one of the Breast Care Nurses for the first time when they are diagnosed with breast cancer. As part of their information pack, the nurses will supply a card with their contact details. The Breast Care Nurses work as a team, so even if the nurse who you have met is not available, one of the others may well be able to answer your query. The Breast Care Nurses can be contacted by telephone on 0116 250 2513 9am to 4pm (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays).

The Breast Care Nurses fit breast prostheses for women who have had a mastectomy and run the Seroma Clinic; the Lymphoedema Clinic and the Family History Clinic. The Breast Care Nurses also attend oncology appointments with breast cancer patients at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. This ensures good communication between patients and the different specialist teams.

The Breast Care Nursing team comprises: Janice Brown (Lead Breast Care Nurse), Sue Orgill, Kay Hawes, Meg Overton, Kelly Parrott, Allison Tucker, Dani Wood, Hannah Swift, Evette Daniel and Elle Gent (Macmillan Support Worker).
