Monika Kaushik

I studied pre-clinical medicine in Mumbai, India and moved to the UK in 2000. I did my basic surgical training at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. I completed my MD at University Hospitals of Leicester in 2010. My higher surgical training rotation included posts in the East Midlands. I then did an Oncoplastic Fellowship at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, following which I was appointed as a Consultant in Breast and Oncoplastic Surgery in 2013.

I am currently Research Lead for the department and responsible for the educational development of the junior doctors and am the Deputy Educational Lead for the clinical management group (CMG). Here is a link to her educational video about breast cancer aimed at health professionals.

My main interests outside my clinical practice are research and education. I am currently leading on various research portfolio studies as well as supporting the introduction of proven new innovations in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Miss Kaushik has been working to improve awareness of breast cancer in the elderly and amongst Asian women. Here is a link to her interview in the Leicester Mercury.

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing badminton.
