Sarah Popple

Children with cystic fibrosis can need to take a wide variety of medicines to keep them in optimal health.

Cystic Fibrosis affects most of the body’s systems and so there may be different medications to treat or prevent problems occurring with each of these.

Additionally as children grow, doses of medications need to change and as different bugs are grown changes may also need to be made.

As a pharmacist my role is to ensure that medicines are prescribed for you / your child in a safe way.

I also ensure that we chose the most appropriate medicine, that it is prescribed at the right dose and also that we monitor it and that there are no interactions with other medicines that you are taking.

Other things I can help with:

Dealing with issues relating to your repeat prescriptions with your GP or community pharmacist. I will review these annually as part of your annual review.

Answering any questions regarding your medicines that you may have. It can get confusing when things are swapped around so always ask if you are unsure.

Teaching you / your child about the medicines when you come to clinic so that as you/they grow older you/they can learn to take more responsibility for them.

I can provide written information about medicines and help to find ways of fitting treatments into your daily routine.

Availability

I am available in most Tuesday clinics, will see you at Annual Review and during any hospital admissions.
