Our Treatments

We treat the entire range of colorectal conditions that include bowel polyps, bowel prolapse, bowel cancer (cancer of the colon and rectum), diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). Anal conditions treated are skin tags, fibroepithelial polyps, haemorrhoids (piles), fistulas, warts, and pruritus ani (anal itchiness).  We also have specialist clinics that treat anal incontinence, functional bowel and pelvic floor disorders.

Surgical treatments include open and laparoscopic (key-hole or minimally invasive) bowel surgery (including rectal surgery).  Transanal endoscopic microsurgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to treat benign tumours and cancers of the rectum that is also offered to suitable patients at LGH.  Endoscopic treatments for bowel polyps are provided through the Endoscopy units.  Abdominal wall hernias are also treated both by open and laparoscopic techniques.
