Consultant led orthodontics services

Complex cases include the following groups of patients:

  • Patients with jaw growth deformities including those with congenital dento-facial anomalies and facial disproportions who require a combination of orthodontics, restorative dentistry and maxillo-facial surgery.
  • Patients with clefts of the lip and palate. Children born with an abnormal failed union of the soft and hard tissues of the face who require a combination of orthodontics, restorative dentistry and maxillo-facial surgery.
  • Children and some young adults with impacted teeth. The buried teeth have a specialised attachment placed on the tooth during a combined surgical list of orthodontics and maxillo-facial surgery.
  • Patients with genetic failed eruption of one or more adult teeth. The children’s teeth are still buried within the jaw bones.
  • Children and young adult patients with congenitally missing adult teeth (Hypodontia) who require a combination of orthodontics, restorative dentistry and surgery to rehabilitate their mouth, dentition and jaw alignment that may involve the use of bone supported dental implants.
  • Intermittent airway obstruction and sleep apnoea requiring orthodontics and jaw surgery to improve the patient’s airway.
  • Patients with jaw pathology that requires a combination of orthodontics and maxillo-facial surgery (jaw surgery) treatment.
  • Children with mal-aligned teeth and jaws who require comprehensive orthodontic treatments who may have a medical history including learning difficulties.
