General Surgery

General surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty that focuses on surgical treatment of abdominal organs.

These consist of the intestines - including the oesophagus, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.

We have both an adult and children’s general surgery service. Using the latest surgical techniques our surgeons and specialist staff are reducing recovery time for many of our patients which means they are able to leave hospital much sooner.
