Payment Machine for Plain Film X-Rays

Patient Self-pay X-Ray Pictures device

We have recently had a machine installed in the Balmoral X-ray waiting room at Leicester Royal Infirmary which allows patients to pay, on the day, for copies of their plain film x-ray images (normal x-ray images rather than scans) on CD.

There is a flat £10 fee for this service. The images are burned onto encrypted CDs on the next working day and are posted out to patients at home with a password sent out separately. Unfortunately, we are only able to provide copies of current x-ray images and not historic images.

There are many hospitals which use this sort of payment machine for providing copies of images from antenatal Ultrasound Scans, but as far as we know, there is nowhere else that uses this sort of machine to accept payment for copies of plain film x-ray images. Imaging departments in other hospital trusts are watching us with interest.
