About Me:
Jennifer Nichols is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Miss Nichols was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Trauma in 2016. She completed her surgical training in Leicester in 2015 followed by specialist training in Trauma at the Major Trauma centre in UHCW, Coventry. Prior to that she was a medical student in Leicester where she also completed her junior training.
Miss Nichols’ clinical practice consists of both adult and paediatric trauma with expertise in lower limb trauma, in particular fragility fractures and elderly hip fracture surgery. Her work with the elderly hip fracture patients is helping to shape the new direction for the care of these patients within the department, and her work with the Hip fracture group is improving the care for these patients throughout their stay with the Orthopaedic department.
She has a Post-graduate certificate in Education, and is currently completing an MD in Education. Her research interests in Education are within simulation and Technology Enhanced learning. She is on the Training faculty for the Trauma and Orthopaedic department and heavily involved in the post-graduate training for future Orthopaedic surgeons. She is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association committee for simulation and training and helped to develop the new curriculum to aid in further training.
