Marie Hubbard

Marie Hubbard is our lead Research Nurse.

We have an active involvement in neonatal research and many babies that we look after have the opportunity to take part in research so that we can find out the best ways to care for preterm and sick babies.

It is only by doing research that we can find out the best way to care for babies and we would like to thank the hundreds parents who take part in research trials on our units each year. If you would like to know more about the research trials we are taking part in, please speak to Marie or your baby's consultant.

We have close links with the University of Leicester. Professor Boyle, one of our consultants is a leading academic, and takes part in important international research trials. We have close links with the MBRRACE team at Leicester University led by Professor Draper.

In recent years, we have taken part in trials, looking at antibiotic impregnated lines, ways to prevent Necrotising Enterocolitis, the best way to monitor glucose in babies, treatments for PDA and steroids for chronic lung disease.

Many of our staff have led research and we regularly have doctors and nurses working with us whilst studying for their PhD.
