Dr Harjinder Singh

Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine

Dr Harjinder Singh was appointed a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Leicester General Hospital in November 2013.

He has vast experience of elite athlete care at both national and international level. He is currently club doctor at Leicestershire County Cricket Club and a medical officer at Leicester City Football Club. He has recently worked with the England and Wales Cricket Board as team doctor for the England Lions team tour to South Africa in January 2015. He has previously worked at Leicester Tigers and Nottingham Forest Football Club. He has extensive musculoskeletal experience both in primary and secondary care. He has previously worked in the orthopaedic and rheumatology departments at Leicester General Hospital.

His interests centre on the optimisation of non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. He is currently part of the team which is evaluating the treatment of tendinopathy using autologous blood injections or dry needling

He has been appointed as the Training Programme Director for Sport and Exercise Medicine in the East Midlands Deanery, this post commences in August 2015

He is also a musculoskeletal trainer nationally for Arthritis Research UK and a local musculoskeletal mentor for Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group. He retains an interest in primary care.
