COVID-19 Advisory Group

We have a COVID Patient and Public Advisory Group. If you are interested in being part of this group, there is a sign up form at the bottom of the page.

Who is it for?

We’re looking to develop an engaged and enthusiastic group made up of people over the age of 18 who have had COVID-19 or cared for someone with COVID-19 who will be able to help shape our research around these experiences.

What does an advisory group do?

When designing research it’s important that researchers hear from those with lived experience who may have input, feedback and ideas that the researchers may have missed. This is called PPI (or Patient and Public Involvement).

We believe PPI is a key part of healthcare research as the outcomes of this research impact us all. Hearing from people with lived experience and personal expertise allows us to design research that works.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all research, even studies that may not be about COVID-19.

What will it involve?

Being part of a PPI group can offer a variety of opportunities to get involved.

You will be put on a mailing list where we will contact you with opportunities to give feedback and shape research.

This may include:

  • Giving written feedback to researchers on their ideas, summaries of their work or other materials (such as surveys).
  • Giving feedback on the phone to either PPI staff or researchers
  • Taking part in focus groups (virtually) to help shape the design of research projects

By joining the group you do not have to take part in every opportunity that is offered.

You must be over 18 to join this group. We won’t share your details without consent. Read our full data policy here.
