The Children's Research Team work with a range of industry partners and continue to seek new collaborators that share our determination to lead and deliver pioneering research by increasing understanding of disease and evaluating new treatments and pathways, for the benefit of babies, children and young people. We do this by providing the highest quality research service to deliver a full spectrum of early to late phase clinical trials.
Facilities
Based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, our dedicated Research Space incorporates adults and children's research in separate clinical areas. As a specialist research facility we offer:
- Fully equipped consultation rooms
- Sensory and 3D distraction equipment
- Dedicated research team, with access to play specialists
- Laboratories with remotely monitored cold storage facilities
We operate a hub and spoke approach, by integrating research into clinical areas outside of Research Space including wards, outpatients, intensive care, and the new children's emergency department.
Specialities
The Children's Research Team have an excellent record of success in research excellence, and were finalists at the CRN: East Midlands Research Awards in 2018 in the category of "Putting Patients First". We are the highest recruiting site for children's clinical trials within the CRN: East Midlands. We currently support 25 different children's specialties across Leicester's Hospitals, and continue to integrate and develop other areas.
