Kindness campaign 2024 - part five

Kindness campaign stories part 5
Vanessa

Vanessa's story

I am a trainee doctor. It is an honour to serve our community, alongside a dedicated team of healthcare staff. I also enjoy doing medical research about rare genetic conditions.

One night a patient was aggressive, demanding to be seen ahead of other patients. He even called the police. I felt shocked and upset.

Please trust us, we're doing our best to manage everyone's care.

Mohamed

Mohamed's story

I am a retail team leader. I serve food, cook in the kitchen, and help customers. I enjoy the fast-paced nature of the job.

Sometimes I need to challenge customers, like when they jump in front of the queue or refuse to pay. They can be rude and shout hurtful words.

I understand things are hard, but I am here to do a job. Be respectful.

Uzma

Uzma's story

I am a doctor. I see patients in the diabetes centre and conduct research.

I enjoy the mix of doing clinical research, seeing patients, and enrolling them into clinical trials.

A patient who was unhappy about not being discharged verbally abused me, calling me unprintable names. I was pregnant at that time and his behaviour made me feel anxious and shocked.

We are humans too. Treat us with respect.
