Road closures affecting access to Leicester Royal InfirmaryROAD CLOSURES. Due to a serious road traffic collision, Welford Road and Aylestone Road are both currently closed in the vicinity of the Leicester Royal Infirmary Emergency Department. Access for emergency services is being maintained. Police diversions are in place. If you are attending the LRI today for an appointment or for work, please allow additional time for your journey. Study reveals underlying genetic risks for type of heart attack largely affecting younger women Research led by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Universite Paris Cite, and supported by worldwide partners in Canada, the USA and Australia, has identified new genes that are associated with an increased risk of a type of heart attack primarily affecting young to middle-aged women. Century for Leicester's Hospitals in study into feeding premature babiesLeicester's Hospitals has become the first UK hospital to randomise 100 babies from its neonatal department into the FEED1 study. It is also in the group of sites who hold the top monthly recruitment figure of 7 babies randomised in one month.
