A pregnancy advice app which helps to improve perinatal health, reduce health inequalities, and improve maternity outcomes for new mums from the South Asian population has received a significant update. The latest version of the successful Janam app launches on Monday 20 January with a host of new features.
A range of new and Important health information and advice has been added. All information is now available in Tamil which joins English, Urdu, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Bengali as languages that are available on app. A new interactive pregnancy calendar offers a comprehensive timeline to guide women through their journey and allow patients to record and write questions they may have which can later be shared with their health professional.
Health notifications means users will receive timely updates and reminders for personalised care based on their gestational age. Sensitive and supportive resources for bereavement and mental health have been added to address these critical areas.
The JanamApp was designed to address educational, cultural, and social barriers in pregnancy and the post-natal period by providing culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate information in multiple South Asian languages. By providing women with validated evidence-based information in a language that they can understand and with appropriate visual images and animations the app will improve accessibility for women from different ethnic groups empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
Users will need to update their app on Monday 20 January and will require a new access code from their midwife.
