Professor Nigel Brunskill has been appointed as Group Director of Research and Innovation at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN).
Nigel is a clinical academic nephrologist with extensive senior leadership experience in managing clinical research delivery across NHS and academic sectors. He has a strong track record of expanding research opportunities and attracting external research infrastructure funding. Nigel is currently the Director of the Leicestershire Academic Health Partners and the Director of Research and Innovation at UHL.
Nigel presented a compelling vision for strengthening and growing research opportunities for patients and multi-professional teams across UHN and UHL as part of the competitive recruitment to the post.
Speaking about the appointment, Nigel said: “I am really looking forward to working with my colleagues to maximise research opportunities for patients and staff in all hospitals within the Group.”

Nigel will take up his new role on 1 November 2024.
