A new fruit and veg stall has launched this week outside the main entrance of Leicester General Hospital in a bid to promote healthier eating for staff, patients and visitors.

With more than 16 years’ experience behind her, owner of PB Fruit and Veg, Penny Benedict currently operates throughout Leicestershire.

Penny said: “I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to work with Leicester’s Hospitals again.

“So far the stall has gone down really well with everyone and managing all three sites is a privilege.

“Being given the chance to provide fresh, good quality fruit and veg to people who are using our hospitals is a great feeling.”

Brian Young, Interim Business and Commercial Manager in Estates and Facilities at Leicester’s Hospitals, said: “As part of our on-going Health and Wellbeing strategy it’s important to encourage healthier options within our hospitals, which is also in support of the nationwide NHS drive for healthy eating.

“Following the success at our other sites, it felt natural to offer the opportunity to make it easier for staff, patients and visitors to have access to fresh produce.”

The stall will be open from 6.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday outside the main entrance at Leicester General Hospital.
