The FREE WiFi service, provided by WiFi SPARK, will be available for patients and staff to access across the three hospital sites: Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital.

Patients will have to register their mobile devices, tablets and laptops every 24 hours in order to access the FREE service, which will allow users to browse the internet, check emails and keep in touch with family.

Andy Carruthers, acting Chief Information Officer at Leicester’s Hospitals, said, “We are really pleased to offer a free WiFi service to patients and staff across our hospitals. It will allow our patients, their families and visitors to stay connected with friends and family whilst in hospital.

"For our staff it will help them to better access information whilst on the move and assist with directing their patients to online resources.”

A premium, paid for WiFi service will also be available for patients wishing to access advanced internet services such as video streaming.

Information posters will be displayed throughout the hospitals informing patients of the launch date and giving details of how to log in.

A 24/7 helpdesk can be contacted on 0344 848 9555.
