Colonel (Retired) Ian Crowe - Non-Executive Director

Colonel (Retired) Ian Crowe lives in Rutland and joined the Trust Board in July 2013. He was born in Oakham and educated in Melton Mowbray. He served 39 years in the Royal Army Medical Corps, retiring in 2013, and is an Environmental Health Officer and Registered Safety Practitioner.

He attended Army Staff College in 1998 and has commanded a number of medical units, including a field hospital that was deployed to Iraq in 2005. He has also held strategic appointments in MOD and NATO and has undertaken operational roles in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone and the Middle East. He was awarded the Order of St John in 2009 for work in relation to Afghanistan.

He has a BSc (Hons) in Human Environmental Science and MSc in Health Informatics. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and Institute of Healthcare Management. His particular strengths are in strategic planning, safety and risk management. He also has a special interest in the use of information and communication technologies, and training and education.

He is currently chair of the Trust’s People, Process and Performance Committee.
