Andrew qualified from Southampton University in 1986. He spent the next 6 years training in General Paediatrics, Paediatric Cardiology and Neonatology before coming to Leicester in 1992 to continue his training.

Andrew spent time in Australia working in neonatal medicine and newborn transport. On his return to the UK, he undertook research into lung disease in premature infants. He was appointed as a consultant neonatologist in 1998 in Leicester, where he still continues his clinical work.

As well as his clinical role, Andrew has worked as Clinical Lead for the Newborn Transport Service; Head of Neonatal Services and Deputy Clinical Director for Women's and Children's Services, before being appointed to his current role as Clinical Director for the Musculoskeletal and Specialist Surgery service.
