Leicester’s Hospitals and our support for the Armed Forces Community

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant - 2023

In June 2023 we, pledged the support of Leicester’s Hospitals to our Armed Forces community by signing re-signing the  Armed Forces Covenant. The purpose of the covenant is to actively encourage support for the local Armed Forces community, making it easier for service personnel, families and veterans to receive help from the Ministry of Defence and charitable groups.

For more information about how you can support or be supported by the covenant, visit the covenant website.

Our Trust Board has nominated a Non-Executive Director, Ballu Patel,
as the Board’s Armed Forces Champion, ensuring that engagement is embedded at the highest levels of the Trust.

In January 2018 the Trust Board pledged to support Step into Health a national initiative between the NHS and the Ministry of Defence, with the aim of supporting military veterans and their families into work as they leave our Armed Forces. By signing the pledge, the Trust actively promotes around 350 NHS careers, offers work placements, and ensures that ex-forces personnel and their families, who join the Trust are able to access support to make a successful transition into the NHS.
