Recruitment creative - Emergency

An ordinary day
extraordinary people

Working in Emergency Care at Leicester Royal Infirmary is an amazing experience. You will work with people from all walks of life and have the opportunity to make a real difference to our patients. Every day is different so if variety is what you are looking for then this is the place for you!

If you are interested in our Emergency Department then you will need to know that we are one of the largest ED’s in Europe providing emergency care for critically sick and injured patients.

There will be opportunities for you to learn special skills like suturing and applying plaster casts as well as providing specialist care for the older people in our pioneering emergency frailty unit. We also have facilities to provide on-going care for post trauma and asthmatic patients as well as several other specialist pathways in our Emergency Decisions unit. We have a designated children’s ED where we care for the younger people in our city.

We have a range of options for your career development from staff nurse to practitioners. Our evolving service has a wealth of knowledge and experience within our nursing teams which include Advanced Nurse Practitioners who specialise in autonomous practice in both adult and paediatric ED, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and a Mental Health Nurse.

If you like acute medicine there are opportunities for you to work on our Acute Medical Assessment Unit where you will continue to care for our patients in a fast paced environment utilising the skills of experienced and supportive nurses who care passionately about the work they do. We have an acute care bay within the admissions unit where we look after our acutely unwell patients where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills to provide excellent high dependency care for your patients.

Our Emergency Department has a reputation for excellent training and development and has designated sisters to support you in an environment which nurtures and develops staff. You will develop leadership skills to the highest level and we will support you to reach your goals. We value all of our staff and have an excellent team ethos and know that happy staff are the key to providing an excellent patient experience. We want you to become an exceptional nurse to allow us to provide a gold standard service for all emergency patients.

Our patients are at the centre of everything we do and we strive to make their experience a positive one. If you are dynamic, hardworking and motivated to make a difference, whether you are a newly qualified or experienced nurse, we are looking for you.

We will be moving into a state of the art, purpose built Emergency Department in 2017, which will be fit for purpose for the future needs of Leicestershire. It will be a department that will be designed to be frail, older person friendly.

We look forward to welcoming you to a team who are passionate, motivated and dedicated to provide excellence in emergency care.

A recruitment and retention premia will be paid to roles in ED and EDU over a period of 3 years
