Accommodation at UHL

All of our Hospital sites offer affordable, residential accommodation to members of staff which are located within a short walking distance from the main Hospitals.

We have a variety of accommodation to suit your needs ranging from individual rooms with shared facilities to family houses.

We offer flexibility of tenure i.e. short stay 1-14 nights or Assured Short-hold tenancies for residents who require residential accommodation for longer periods of time.

Car Parking

There are staff car parks at each of the three hospital sites and once you have commenced working at UHL you will be able to apply for a parking permit.

Alternatively, the Hospital Hopper bus is free to UHL staff upon presentation of their NHS ID badge. The latest timetable can be found here.

 

AMICA - Staff Counselling and Psychological Support Services

Because we all need a little help to deal with changes and challenges in our lives from time to time, whether they are work-related or personal, AMICA are available to provide confidential telephone, face to face and group counselling 365 days a year from 8.30am to 8.30pm.

Occupational Health

UHL's Occupational Health department provide confidential and impartial advice to staff on aspects of the relationship between work and health. They have a decicated multidisciplinary team consisting of specialist occupational physicians, specialist nurses, nurse advisors and clerical staff.

The Glenfield Occupational Health Department is in Baldwin Lodge between the LPT pharmacy and the Wellbeing @ Work building.

The Leicester General Occupational Health Department is located in Beattie House between the Brandon Unit link corridor and the maternity block.


Well-Being at Work

Well-being at Work offer discounted and free activities and therapies to UHL staff to help us acheive a healthier lifestyle.

Glenfield Hospital

  • LEat Cup - 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

  • LEat Street Restaurant - 7.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday

Leicester General

  • SOHO Coffee Company - 7am to 7pm every day

  • LEat Street Restaurant - 7.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday

  • One WRVS Cafe

There is also a 24 vending machine/ area available at each site.
