What are the benefits
Why work at Leicester’s Hospitals
Here at Leicester’s Hospitals we believe our purpose is to deliver Caring at its Best. To achieve this we need the best staff, the right attitude and lots of energy.
Creating a hospital where patients choose to come and where staff want to work is important. We continue to develop our services and are always looking for talented individuals who can add value to the care we provide, grow with us and share in our on-going success.
These roles offer you the chance to move up a gear and put your skills and experience to good use in one of the country’s biggest and busiest teaching hospitals.

Helping your work-life balance
Ensuring our staff strike the right balance between their working lives and their personal lives is important to us. We offer a range of options to help with this, including part-time hours, job share, annualised hours, term-time contracts, flexible retirement, self-rostering, and bank only contracts. Our staff are supported with breaks when they’re needed, such as maternity and paternity leave, adoption leave, career breaks, sabbaticals, study leave, compassionate leave, carer leave, and annual leave.
We have Occupational Health services at all three of our hospitals as well as access to our Amica staff counsellingservices. Click here to visit the AMICA website.
We are proud that our staff have the opportunity to participate in our staff lottery, funded by our Leicester Hospitals Charity. Staff can win prizes every week ranging from £50 to £1,000 and with additional prizes appearing throughout the year such as cars and holidays.
Our successful Well-being @ Work programme, which is funded through our staff lottery, also offers staff the opportunity to take part in sports, therapies and classes such as exercise and art as well as competitive events like our popular football league and quiz nights.
Pension and Pay
All our eligible employees join the NHS Pension Scheme which is a final salary pension scheme, which also provides life insurance and ill-health retirement benefits.
Further information on the scheme is available from the NHS Pensions Agency.
For those not eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme we offer an alternative pension scheme operated by the National Employment Savings Trust ('NEST') which the Trust also contributes to.
Pay and standard NHS benefits are in line with national guidelines and policy.
Salary Maxing
'Salary Maxing' is the name of our unique range of employee benefits which have been designed to make employees’ salaries go further using Salary Exchange (often referred to as salary sacrifice).
