UHL Apprenticeship and Development Centre

As a health employer, we understand the benefits of having apprentices within our workforce and they offer us a route to harness new talent and develop an organisations existing workforce. Apprenticeship Education Programmes are part of the Government’s commitment to build a better future for the Country. At Leicester Hospitals not only do we employ apprentices but we are also an accredited apprenticeship training centre for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland health and social care organisations.

The portfolio of apprenticeships delivered includes

The programme is equivalent to 5 GCSEs and supports the individual to attain, if required, the right level of maths and English for a role in this profession at this level.

Individuals working in health and social care across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland must be in an appropriate role to access the education and have their line managers support. Staff can work in any organisation e.g. Loros, Nuffield, LPT, GP, care home, social care, UHL providing their role is suitable for the programme they wish to study. Course fees are typically funded by the national apprenticeship levy (this can be moved from organisations with a surplus to organisations who need levy if funds don’t naturally exist).

An employee pay and conditions are not altered by completing an apprenticeship education programme i.e. an existing staff member would not be changed to apprentice pay unless they had applied for a role with that pay.

For any enquiries about apprenticeship education programmes please email Apprenticeships@uhl-tr.nhs.uk

The Centre is rigorously inspected by a range of external organisations and holds accreditation for Information, Advice and Guidance with Matrix.
