Changes to our outpatient pharmacy service

The safety of staff and our patients remains our top priority. To ensure we keep people safe and supply you with the vital medications you need, we have made some changes to the way we work.

Collecting your medication after your hospital appointment
  • You must wear a face covering and observe hand cleaning and social distancing guidance when you are in our hospitals.

When visiting our pharmacy after your appointment, please help us to stop the spread of COVID-19, by:
  • Only sending one person in to collect your prescription to enable safe distancing.
  • Queuing two metres apart from other patients.
  • Dressing appropriately and bringing an umbrella in case you need to wait outside for your prescription. There is a waiting area inside, but to enable social distancing we will limit the number of people in there at any one time.
  • Waiting in your car if you have driven.
  • Paying using contactless methods where possible.

Ordering your prescription after a telephone or video appointment
  • After your telephone or video appointment, you will receive a phone call from TrustMed pharmacy within 24 hours to discuss how you can collect your medication. 
  • Please do not call us after your appointment, unless you have not heard from us within 24 hours as it takes time for prescriptions to come through to us.
  • Please let your doctor or nurse know if you have run out of medication and urgently need more.

Collecting your prescription after a telephone or video appointment
  • You can request to collect your medication from the pharmacy at any of our three hospitals.
  • To keep everyone safe, we are now offering a new drive-thru service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) and home delivery for certain patients approved by the hospital.
  • You can discuss both of these options when you are contacted by TrustMed pharmacy. You will not be given any advice about your medications if you use the home delivery or drive-thru service, so please contact us if you need any further information.
