If you need help urgently and it isn’t life threatening, please use the NHS111 service to be directed to care in the right place for your medical problem. NHS111 can help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can either call 111, use NHS111 online or use the NHS App. All three routes will ensure that you are assessed and, if you need to be seen, an appointment can be arranged at a local service, such as an urgent care or urgent treatment centre.
There are 13 urgent care locations in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. In most services walk in capacity is available, but it is advisable to use NHS111 to ensure you are guided to the most appropriate service with a confirmed appointment time or arrival time slot. This will minimise waiting times and, for locations where there are fewer appointments available, it will avoid long waits or signposting to alternative services.
The following locations can be used without an appointment.
If you think you might need an x-ray, there are three locations in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that can be used instead of the Emergency Department without an appointment. These are:
- Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre
- Market Harborough Minor Injury Unit (due to a limited waiting area, patients are advised to use NHS111 before travelling to avoid having to return later)
- Oakham Minor Injury Unit
Melton Minor Injury Unit can be used without an appointment for minor injuries not expected to require an x-ray.
