Electric Hospital Hopper 2022
Electric Hospital Hopper 2022

About the Service

Our hospital shuttle bus service, the ‘Hospital Hopper’ runs between three hospitals in Leicester every 30 minutes Monday to Friday, with an hourly Saturday service and a hourly peak only service on Sundays. The service links Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital with Beaumont Leys Centre, Hamilton Centre, the Railway station and Leicester’s Park and Ride hub at St Nicholas Circle, near Jubilee Square. The Hospital Hopper is part of the Greenlines electric network and operated by fully electric buses, with a range of features.  More information about the new features can be found on https://www.centrebus.info/bus-services/leicester-city/hh/

The service is ideal for passengers who want to get around Leicester, whether they be a patient or visitor to the hospitals, a commuter requiring the rail station, or just getting out for shopping or leisure in the city.  As well as providing a quick and direct link to Hamilton and Beaumont Leys Shopping Centres, the Hopper has convenient stops for the City Centre itself.  All customers are welcome on the Hopper whether travelling to Hospital or not.

Customers can buy a single or day ticket on the bus, or simply “Tap on and Tap off” with their contactless payment method to get the best value fare based on their travel.  Flexi tickets and also issued and accepted on the service. UHL staff travel free on production of their ID card and local council concessionary permits are valid on the Hopper service. University of Leicester and De Montfort University staff and students need to refer to their own website for the conditions of their concessionary travel scheme.

The Hospital Hopper service is a limited stop service and the stops the service serves are clearly marked at bus stops (with a Hospital Hopper timetable display) and shown on the attached map.

For advice about out-of-hours travel to any of our hospitals, please visit www.choosehowyoumove.co.uk.

The service is free to University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust staff on production of their NHS ID badge.

All nationally recognised concessions are valid on the Hospital Hopper.

All stops used by the Hospital Hopper are clearly marked with a Hospital Hopper timetable in the roadside panel
