The DAISY Award: extraordinary nurses and midwives

Daisy Award
Daisy Award

A special way for you to say ‘thank you’

Leicester’s Hospitals is proud to be one of the first University teaching hospitals to launch the DAISY Award – an international recognition programme that honours and celebrates the skilful, compassionate care nurses and midwives provide each day.

The DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an opportunity to say thank you by sharing your story of how a nurse or midwife made a difference you will never forget.

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalisation, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To learn more, visit DAISYFoundation.org

More information is available in this video: https://vimeo.com/287707346

Each DAISY Award Honouree will be recognised at a public ceremony in their ward or department and will receive: a beautiful certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer’s Touch.
