Chapels and prayer rooms

Patients and visitors are welcome to use the chapels and prayer rooms to be found across all of the hospitals. 

They can be used for personal prayer or meditation and hold religious services and belief specific rituals for people of different faiths and beliefs. 

The hospital chapels and prayer rooms are open 24 hours a day for use by any patient, relative or staff of any faith or belief.

Glenfield Hospital

There is a small Chapel opposite Ward 28 on the first floor.

The Prayer Room is near the intensive care units on the first floor.


Leicester General Hospital

You can find accessibility information here. 

The Chapel and Prayer Room are off the main hospital corridor near Ward 15.


Leicester Royal Infirmary

The Chapel is next to the lifts, level 0 in the Balmoral building, and is signposted from near the Royal Restaurant. There are also Prayer Rooms with Wudhu facilities. 

The Chapel and Prayer Rooms are open at all times.

Services and Prayers:

Christian: Holy communion is available upon request.

Muslim: Friday Juma Khutba followed by Salaat, in the Prayer Rooms

Hindu: Hindu prayers are available upon request. 

Sikh: Sikh prayers are available upon request. 

Non-religious: Our non-religious Chaplains are available upon request.
