Inpatient Pharmacy

Our pharmacists (chemists) and medicines management technicians provide a clinical service to our hospitals wards. 

They visit the wards and check the medicines of in-patients are correctly prescribed and make sure that they have enough medicine to last their stay in hospital. 

We also have pharmacies at each hospital site called TrustMed Pharmacy which provide your medicines from WHITE outpatient prescriptions.

Please note that none of the pharmacies at the hospital can provide medicines from GREEN prescriptions; Please take these to your local pharmacy outside the hospital.

The standard opening and closing hours of the inpatient pharmacy departments at each of the Leicester NHS hospitals sites are as below. Note that the details below are for inpatient pharmacy services; please see here for opening hours and contact details for outpatient pharmacy.

Glenfield Hospital

There is one main pharmacy (chemist) at Glenfield Hospital, between the main entrance to the hospital and the restaurant. 

Opening hours:     

Main pharmacy:

Monday to Friday                            9:00am – 6:00pm 

Saturday                                        9.00am – 12:30pm 

Sunday                                        10.00am – 12:30pm 

Medicine - pilss and tablets

Leicester General Hospital

There is one main pharmacy at the Leicester General Hospital, next to X-ray at the far end of the main corridor.

Opening hours: 

Main pharmacy:   
Monday to Friday
9:00am – 6:00pm 

Saturday and Sunday            10:30am – 2:00pm
  

Leicester Royal infirmary

There is one main pharmacy at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, on the ground floor of the Windsor building near the main hospital entrance.

Opening hours:   

Main pharmacy:
Monday to Friday
9:00am – 6:00pm

Saturday
9:00am – 12:30pm 

Sunday
10:00am – 12:30pm

FP57 forms are available for patients who are exempt from payment (and are unable to prove this at the time) to allow them to claim back payment.
