NHS e-Referral Service (previously known as Choose and Book)

We know for most people, being referred to hospital is an uncertain and sometimes worrying time. At Leicester's Hospitals we aim to make sure that your experience of healthcare is as trouble free as possible.

Once your GP has decided that you need to be referred to a hospital / consultant, the way that you book your appointment will depend on your GP practice.

The preferred method of booking appointments into our hospitals is by using the national NHS e-Referral Service system (previously known as Choose and Book).

Once you have selected your hospital and suitable appointment details, you will receive a letter from the department you have been referred to, confirming the details of your appointment,  where you need to go, and any instructions you may need to follow in preparation of your appointment.

NHS e-Referral Service

If your GP has referred you using the NHS e-Referral Service System you can make, change or cancel an appointment online. You will need your reference number (shown at the top of your provisional appointment letter) and your password (which your GP practice gave you). Please contact your GP practice if you do not have your letter or password.
