Useful guide for visitors

Flowers

Fresh flowers are not permitted in some wards for health and safety reasons. 

Please check with the ward where the patient is based before bringing in any flowers.

Mobile phones

You can use your mobile phones in hospital.  We do ask that you talk quietly and keep ring tones to a minimum level to reduce annoyance to other people, particularly in ward and clinic areas. 

The only areas where you can't use your mobile are critical care units, intensive care units and theatres.


No smoking

Smoking is not allowed in any of the hospital buildings at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General and Glenfield Hospitals.

Patients and visitors may smoke in the red smoking shelters in the grounds of the hospitals. The shelters are for patients and visitors only. Staff must not smoke in hospital buildings or grounds.
